Info on Diabetes
Diabetes is a disease that should not be left to chance. Symptoms can be
difficult to diagnose early on, and even the more common symptoms can be
misinterpreted. Nevertheless, there a certain signs that you need to watch
out for that could signal pre diabetes (the early stage of the disease) or
the full blown condition.
The
constant need to urinate is a classic tell-tale-sign the may suggest signs
of diabetes. One defining attribute of the disease is increased blood
glucose levels in the body. This is when the body produces an insufficient
amount of insulin (Type one diabetes), or the insulin isn't used correctly
managed by the body (Type two diabetes).
In
turn the body tries to compensate by expelling the excess glucose levels
thereby causing the need to urinate more. The kidneys need to work at
greater than normal levels to sieve out the excess sugar as a result.
Info
on diabetes also confirms that many diabetics develop excessive thirst. The
diabetic feels as if he or she is constantly craving for fluid, and no
matter how much quantity is consumed, it’s invariably never enough. Again,
this is another cause of the need to frequently urinate.
Another common and possible symptom is constant tiredness. As insulin isn't
being managed properly by the body by helping cells to absorb glucose from
the bloodstream, the diabetic is likely to feel tired. This is no real
surprise then when you consider that glucose is an important source of
energy that powers a wide variety of the body's functions from cell repair
to muscle movement.
Another popular symptom of being a diabetic is blurry vision. This can
often result from various other conditions, even natural old age where it is
often just Presbyopia. (Presbyopia is the reduction in elasticity of the
lenses in the eye), leading to a narrowed ability to focus correctly. But
the info on diabetes that’s available is very different.
High
blood sugar levels will result in a reduction of fluid in the body’s
tissues, including those of the eye and in particular the lenses of the
eye. This in turn will affect the natural process of being able to quickly
focus on objects. When diabetes becomes more advanced it can cause the
development of new blood vessels to form in the retina. That again will
affect vision. Though when this happens, the result is likely to be a
combination of flashing lights or possibly dark circles the further impair
vision.
Info
on Diabetes also suggests that in some circumstances, cuts (particularly
around the foot area) may be slower to heal when a diabetes whom has
developed type two diabetes. Unfortunately the reasons for this are not
fully understood, but again it’s another indication that the patient
diabetic.
Since the info on diabetes, and in particular the symptoms can be simulated
by a vast number of other conditions, it’s advisable to visit your GP to
seek a professional diagnosis of diabetes. A Simple blood test can confirm
with high accuracy whether the condition is present or not.
